About Me | Why I love this stuff!

 Nicole 2(3)

Hi! Welcome to RepurposeLife. My name is Nicole. My style is modern industrial farmhouse. I never imagined I would be writing about repurposing my home. I’ve always loved writing and filled several journals when our lives were turned totally upside-down and changed forever on July 9, 2011.

But prior to that, DIY and home decor were not my thing. I always relied on my mom and my sister for decorating advice. I just never had confidence in myself to tackle those projects on my own. But then July 9th happened, and I found myself in waiting rooms while my husband was going to therapy after therapy. About this same time, a “little” new online platform had just rolled out, called Pinterest. I found myself scrolling Pinterest while waiting for Corey. It was a way to escape the reality of our present journey. I was amazed at the projects everyday people (girls, nonetheless) were tackling on their own. I remember thinking to myself, countless times, I could do that.

And so one day, I did! I came home from the grocery store and announced to my kiddos and husband my “plan” to transform our carpeted staircase into a wooden staircase. (I always loved the look of a wooden staircase). Can’t say there was much of a plan…I marched over to the stairs and tore back a little of the carpet to see what was underneath…It was real wood! Off came the carpet and so began my first DIY Pinterest Project!! A beautiful wooden staircase. Our home has been in continuous chaos, I mean renovation, since then…and I LOVE IT!! Building projects became my therapy and then my passion.

I find it somewhat ironic that I now have a love and a passion for something I never would have even thought of attempting before. My grandpa was very talented in woodworking and apparently (unbeknownst to me, til after my husband’s accident) he passed some of that onto me. I’m so thankful God opened my eyes to a new passion that I absolutely thrive on.

I enjoy sharing my projects (here’s one of my favorites) and the repurposing of my home with you (here’s a glimpse into my home) and I hope you will be inspired to try them too. That is my goal…to help you overcome your fear and apprehension of power tools. It brings me SO much joy, when I hear from readers, about a new project they have tried and how much they loved the process. You can do this!! And when you hit the final step of that tutorial, you’ll see how empowering and rewarding it is.

I hope to also get to know you. Please don’t hesitate to DM me on Instagram or Pinterest or email me: let me know what you’re working on and/or any questions you may have. I love to see what all you’ve created. You’re creativity inspires me.

So, Thank You!!! for joining me on this journey of RepurposeLife.

Now let’s go build something AWESOME together!! We can start right here, with this super-easy farmhouse picture frame. (Awesome for gifts too)  🙂

Happy Building!!

Nicole
