A Cheap and Easy (Often Overlooked) Way to Decorate for Fall

Hello friends! Can’t believe it’s already time to decorate for Fall. Kinda hard to get in the Fall decor mood with the warm temps making it feel like the middle of August. But, the warmer weather offers a great opportunity….bring the outside in. This is a cheap and easy (not to mention, often overlooked) way to decorate for fall. The vast array of greenery outside is a great resource to decorate with inside. Why not bring the outside in?

Last week we talked all about pumpkins and traditional Fall decorating. So, this week I thought it would be fun to talk about the Fall foliage all around us. Why go to the store and buy the fake stuff, when we can just step outside, into our backyard and cut our own REAL greenery? It actually lasts quite a long time, smells good, and looks so much better. Not to mention a whole lot cheaper. And that’s a BIG win! I posted this Instagram picture last week and talked about this cheap, easy way to decorate for Fall.

At the beginning of the summer, we tore out our front yard landscaping and basically started from scratch. As you can see, it needed a lot of work. Too much green, kinda boring and a bit overgrown. (Luckily, we have Harlee there, to spruce things up a bit 🙂 )…

In doing so, we had bushes ready to go out to the trash. My sister mentioned, cutting off the greenery from it and placing it around my home. Genius idea! I love to get rid of stuff, so my mind instantly went to, “How soon can the garbage truck be here to pick up all of this stuff?” So glad, my sister was thinking outside of my little space. We still have those sprigs in vases throughout my home. And aside from some yellowing (which just adds more color), they are as good as new. And that was months ago. 🙂

So, in venturing out last week and taking a nature walk around my yard, I brought in a couple hydrangeas…

Love how these are starting to change to their Fall color.

Around the side of the house, I bravely went up against the bees and fought them for some snippets of MY russian sage…

Sometimes I’ll add some water to the vase, like in the case of the Russian Sage and the Hydrangeas. But with the greenery from the bushes, obviously, I did not add any water. And the great thing about it, when they die, I can just go back outside and cut more.

I’m really looking forward to the leaves on the trees changing colors and cutting off a few branches to bring inside. Such an easy way to decorate for fall and add color and life to your decor.

So go on…get out there…and bring the outside in.

Until next time,

Happy Building!!
