So, I finally made it outside to take pictures for my Christmas Outdoors Tour 2018. We had so many cold days at the start of December and I just wasn’t feeling it to go out and freeze my buns off, doing a photo shoot. But finally, we got a break in the temps AND some sunshine too!! So here it is.
I have to start off by saying, this isn’t my favorite Christmas Outdoors Tour I’ve ever done. Not the best way to start a blog post, I know. But because it was so cold (or maybe I’m just getting older and therefore, less tolerant of the cold temps), I did my outside decorating in shifts with the goal being: to just get back inside. Needless to say, I didn’t take the time I usually do to make the outdoors as festive as years past. But without much further ado, let’s get on with the Christmas Outdoors Tour…and you can be the judge. 🙂
I had some furry photobombers that insisted on being in every picture…almost. I love these simple easy-to-build lanterns, I made over the summer. You can check out this post over on my friend Sheri’s blog where I shared a full tutorial on how to make them.
I love the contrast of the wood with the metal basket in the picture above. And those birch logs!! My local grocery store was selling bundles of those. I ended up cutting them in half to make them go a little further in my decor. I brought some inside too. Love those things!! Kind of a funny story: when I was checking out at the store, the clerk said to me, “I have to ask, what do you do with these things?” I told her they’re great to add to your decorations around your house. She then said, “So, you just kinda toss them in your yard?” Well, not exactly. Haha!
I was a little disappointed to see that my wreath is dying already. I haven’t had it very long, so this was a little frustrating. Not as noticeable from a distance, but sticks out like a sore thumb close up. I’ll probably have to take it down pretty soon. 🙁
A couple of Christmases ago, I free-handed this chalkboard sign. Let me tell you, my handwriting is notorious for being messy. So, if I can do this, you can too!!
The little metal Christmas tree is from a local shop called Saving Grace. Again, I love all of the textures: the wood, the metal, the burlap tree skirt and the weaved basket.
Another sign from a few Christmas’ pasts. This one I used letter stencils for. 🙂 You can check out the post to make this sign here….
And before we end this Christmas Outdoors Tour, here’s a look at our home at night. Some kiddo left the light on in the bathroom upstairs. No surprise there. 🙂 I love how our home is all lit up at Christmas. We usually end up keeping the spotlights on it until my husband has to start mowing again in the Spring. One of these days, I would like to splurge and install permanent outdoor spots for our home. One of these days….
Thank you for joining me on the Christmas Outdoors Tour 2018.
And with only five days til Christmas, my family would like to wish you and your family…
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
P.S. I’m taking a few weeks off to celebrate the holidays with family. I look forward to meeting you guys back here in 2019. See you again on January 10th!!
